A Review of Dignity Health
Dignity Health was introduced to the American public a few years ago by John Lesko, M.D. It was one of the first systems of its kind on the market. Although there are many health insurance providers today, Dignity Health has carved a niche for itself. Below is a review of the system.
The basic system provides coverage for all routine medical care. It has managed care plans that allow patients to choose the type of health care they want and how much they will pay for the medical services. In addition, the program will cover X-rays, blood tests, and laboratory fees. Once a patient takes these routine tests, he or she will be charged a small co-pay or co-insurance fee and a regular fee for each test.
There are two plans for each type of service: fee-for-service and managed care. In managed care, the patient's needs will be addressed by a network of doctors in his or her local area who have agreed to participate in the system.
The fee-for-service plan is similar to a typical health insurance plan except that it covers visits to family physicians, specialists, emergency room visits, and most other services not covered by the HMO plan. This plan will usually charge patients a low co-payment but a large deductible.
The managed care plan is slightly different from the fee-for-service plan in that it is a full-fledged health insurance plan. As the name implies, the management of the health care system is in the hands of doctors and hospitals. Physicians and hospitals will provide the patient with the service on a non-competitive basis, determining the amount of care and charges that the patient will receive.
Each patient is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and his or her personal medical history is analyzed. Individual insurance premiums are paid monthly, and the rest of the costs are borne by the medical provider. The patient must pay a large deductible and a modest co-payment for each visit but will be able to choose his or her primary care physician.
The system does not involve transferring funds from the health insurance provider to the patient; however, it does require them to pay a small monthly premium. The person will receive a bill for his or her services at the end of each month and will be asked to pay the fee directly to the health insurance provider. The system has high quality assurance.
The system is designed to protect the health of the patient and to keep it a secret from the patient's current medical provider. Once a patient's health is at risk, the system is activated immediately and steps are taken to provide appropriate care to the patient.
The low payment rates will not be a deterrent to some patients because the service is of high quality and there is no up front cost to the patient. Patients will save money and be able to afford the daily charges for their health insurance.
Many people believe that this type of health insurance is too good to be true. However, many medical professionals around the country use the Dignity Health system for their patients. For example, Dr. John Lesko is a full-time Board Certified Family Physician who has used the system for over 15 years.
It is important to understand that the system is not just another one of those health insurance plans that you heard about. Before using the system, it is important to carefully review all information and compare the cost, coverage, and benefits with other types of health insurance.
By establishing a relationship with a doctor, living with dignity is a reality for any person and will enable him or her to take control of his or her personal health care needs. Itis also a program that can work well for the average individual.
